Day 12 (Summing Amplifier)

The day started by doing a hypothetical problem where an inverting OP amp wouldn't have a negative voltage connected and we saw what would happen to a square wave that had both a negative and positive output.

We found that it acts like a transformation that involves shifting the square wave up but not amplifying by the gain of the circuit. We then analyzed a more complex circuit that had input voltages in both ports of the OP amp.

We then found the formula for what the output voltage for a non-inverting ideal OP amp.

We then covered how summing OP amps work and found the formula for the output voltage.

We then performed a lab on summing OP amps. The pre-lab asked us to calculate values for a circuit to have a specific set up. Here is the picture.

Then we did the lab and here are pictures of our circuit and data.

Then we moved onto the subject of difference amplifiers and we took a look at how to wave functions would look if they were subtracted.

We then analyzed a circuit that is built as a difference amplifier. Here is the picture.
